Israel’s rabbinate asks Pope Francis to clarify feedback about Judaism

(RNS) — Israel’s Chief Rabbinate has written a letter to Pope Francis conveying its “misery” at feedback made by Pope Francis that counsel Jewish legislation, as written within the Torah, is out of date.

The letter, which was first reported by Reuters, was despatched by Rabbi Rasson Arousi, chair of the Fee of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel for Dialogue with the Holy See. Arousi was referencing a homily made by Francis throughout a basic viewers on Aug. 11.
