“Why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:31
A number of years in the past, my husband turned critically unwell. Initially, the worry, anger, hopelessness, and exhaustion consumed us. We requested God, “Why?” for months. We have been gradual to listen to God asking us in return, “Why are you doubting?” Fortunately, God doesn’t surrender on doubters.
Roughly 2,000 years in the past, Jesus requested Peter the query, “Why did you doubt?”
Simply earlier than this, Jesus had requested Peter to do what appeared unimaginable: stroll on water. Enthusiastic belief drew Peter out of the boat; specializing in the storm raging round him, and never the Creator of the wind and waves, is what brought about him to start to sink.
When Peter realized that he was sinking, he cried out to the Lord Jesus, “Save me!” Jesus grabbed his hand and lifted him out of the water. When my husband and I felt like we have been drowning in our personal circumstances and fears, we too cried out to God to save lots of us, and He did.
Our worry was changed with unshakable peace and calm. Though we nonetheless discovered ourselves in very tough circumstances, the Lord sustained us in a manner we had by no means earlier than identified potential. Once we mounted our eyes on Jesus, and never on the wind and waves round us, He rescued us from our burden of fear and doubt.
After Jesus and Peter climbed into the boat, the textual content tells us that Peter and his buddies worshiped Jesus. Though we didn’t know at the moment if my husband would get well and even dwell, our doubts have been reworked to worship as we every day put our belief in him.
Lord Jesus, You might be my Savior and Lord. Forgive me for specializing in my burdens as a substitute of You. Carry me out of the concerns I discover myself sinking into; I need to put my belief and hope in You. In Jesus’ title I pray, amen.
