Pleased St. Patrick’s Day!

On this explicit day it ought to come as no shock that our prayer is musical!  This is an extended portion and a lighter lyrical model of the Lorica (Breastplate) of Saint Patrick which we heard final night time.  That is positively a “morning” rendition of Patrick’s Christ-centered phrases.

And here is a fair longer portion of The Lorica of Saint Patrick…

I come up right now
By a mighty energy, the invocation of the Trinity,
By a perception within the Threeness,
By confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation.

I come up right now
By the energy of Christ’s delivery and his baptism,
By the energy of his crucifixion and his burial,
By the energy of his resurrection and his ascension…

I come up right now
By the energy of the love of angels…
Within the hope of the resurrection,
Within the prayers of ancestors within the religion,
Within the preaching of the apostles,
Within the religion of martyrs
Within the innocence and purity of the deeds of the righteous.

I come up right now
By the energy of heaven;
Gentle of the solar,
Splendor of fireplace,
Velocity of lightning,
Swiftness of the wind,
Depth of the ocean,
Stability of the earth,
Firmness of the rock.

I come up right now
By God’s energy to pilot me;
God’s would possibly to uphold me,
God’s knowledge to information me,
God’s eye to look earlier than me,
God’s ear to listen to me,
God’s phrase to talk for me,
God’s hand to protect me,
God’s strategy to lie earlier than me,
God’s defend to guard me,
God’s hosts to avoid wasting me
From snares of the satan,
From temptations of vices,
From each one who needs me ailing,
Afar and anear,
Alone or in a large number.

I summon right now all these powers between me and evil,
In opposition to each merciless cruel energy
that opposes my physique and soul,
In opposition to false prophets, false legal guidelines and idolatry…

Christ with me, Christ earlier than me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my proper, Christ on my left,
Christ once I lie down, Christ once I sit down,
Christ within the coronary heart of each one who thinks of me,
Christ within the mouth of each one who speaks of me,
Christ within the eye that sees me,
Christ within the ear that hears me.

I come up right now
By a mighty energy, the invocation of the Trinity,
By a perception within the Threeness,
By a confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation.
