“I might have despaired until I had believed that I might see the goodness of the LORD within the land of the residing.” Psalm 27:13 (NASB)
Because the pandemic, I’ve wrestled with despair. I need to consider God is with me, however I’m tempted to be on the mercy of an unseen virus that would sneak up on me and kill me or somebody I really like.
So my soul searches for God’s truths. The place is God in all of this? Do I consider what he says is true? Do I consider in His goodness regardless of my best fears?
David writes this psalm as he’s operating for his life. He, too, felt hazard and uncertainty. As he wrote phrases of confidence within the Lord all through Psalm 27, he was trustworthy and craving in his relationship with God and to be delivered from what he feared most.
The phrase “until” within the above verse packs a strong which means. Believing within the Lord’s goodness brings hope from despair. He offers us a alternative. We will both despair or believe in his goodness, seen each day as we’ve got sunshine and rain, morning and evening, birds singing, and flowers blooming.
If we actually consider within the Lord’s goodness, we are able to notice that he cares. Despair doesn’t have to manage us, and concern could be overcome. God is within the midst of our disaster, but he has a much bigger image of all of it.
Lord God, assist me to belief in your goodness. When fears and emotions of dismay come at me, assist me to decide on to consider in your goodness as an alternative of the circumstances. Amen.
