NIGHT PRAYER: Friday 11/5

November is commonly known as the Month of All Souls,
a particular time to hope for many who have gone earlier than us…

Ah, November, Lord…

The gateway, in these components, to shorter days and colder nights; to “the vacations” and all that they entail; to this 12 months’s finish and all of the surprise, fear and thriller of what a brand new 12 months holds in retailer…

However in all issues residing comes this dying, Lord: this inevitable annual ending, sapping the power of all that was brilliant and exquisite, heat and fantastic…

After which the harvest: a time for raking, burning, plowing underneath, ready for the winter… then ready by the winter…  then ready for the ready itself to lastly finish…

I don’t like the tip of issues, Lord: the dying, the loss, the giving up, the letting go…

My soul mourns the lack of summer season’s heat and grieves as autumn’s magnificence, in magnificence, move away…

I shiver in opposition to the nippiness November brings… And December’s pledge of colder days dims my hopes for spring…

Ah, November, Lord…

What different month may higher bear our prayers supplied up for all souls gone earlier than us: valuable leaves fallen from our household timber…

All these holy souls: misplaced and located and claimed by you, harvested for all times that by no means ends…

Ah, November, Lord… the month to pause and face the lack of these we prayed would by no means go – however did…  the month to cease and face the reality:  dying’s a part of residing and after loss of life there comes a time after we will know your reign of peace and know once more the love of those that’ve gone earlier than us…

Ah, November, Lord…   the month of souls whose loss has touched our hearts in methods we can not carry to speech however carry to prayer so that you can contact with therapeutic, with the grace of hope that sees past the summer season’s finish, past the autumn, past the winter’s watch for springtime and life that has no finish…

We carry to you the souls, the lives, the love, the reminiscence of those that’ve gone earlier than us, Lord, and within the quiet of our prayer now, we carry them up by title…

(Take a fews second, in God’s presence, to call relations and associates who’ve died…)

We carry them as much as you in prayer, Lord: welcome them in mercy to the place that you’ve got ready for them, lengthy earlier than all time started…

Maintain them in your arms, we pray, Lord…  Form our lives in keeping with your phrase that sooner or later we could also be with them as soon as extra, when your mercy gathers us collectively in your peace and within the pleasure that has no finish…

Defend us, Lord, whereas we’re awake and watch over us whereas we sleep, that awake we’d hold look ahead to you, and asleep, relaxation in your peace…

Amen.

Tonight’s providing is just a little completely different: composer Liam Lawton reads a remarkably stunning prayer in opposition to the background of straightforward music…

Lord
My coronary heart is numb
The one I really like has died
And I’ve cried and cried

There may be an empty house in my coronary heart
That I lengthy to fill

As you wept for Lazarus uour pal
Your human coronary heart was breaking
Now I take your house

Carry the veil that I’d see
Past my grief
The place love is pure and
Mild will attain beneath
These empty partitions

Could no hurt come to them
They who’ve taken depart
The pilgrims of Paradise

Could their journey be mild
And blessed reminiscence
Lighten their method

Could they see the glimmer
Of Heaven’s mild
Calling them deeper and deeper
Into everlasting magnificence

Could they acknowledge the kindly faces
Of family members, previous associates and neighbors
Who’ve gathered to greet them
And take them by the hand
To the land of everlasting summer season

And will they see you Lord
As you might be
Radiant in magnificence
With a gaze from stunning eyes
That can by no means ever depart them

And will they know the candy embrace
Of your gentle, tanned palms

So Lord, in my empty moments
Could blessed reminiscence
Be the bridge
From my coronary heart to Heaven

So relaxation in peace O mild soul
Till that day
When love will name us residence
