New Life for Outdated – A Devotional by Roy Lessin

Reflections on Galatians 2:20

“My outdated self has been crucified with Christ. It’s not I who dwell, however Christ lives in me. So I dwell on this earthly physique by trusting within the Son of God, who liked me and gave Himself for me.”  Galatians 2:20 (NLT)

My outdated self— How I lived with out Jesus…my outdated mind-set, of selecting, of doing…me on the heart, not Him; my will being completed, not His; my pleasure being pursued, not His.

Has been crucified with Christ— Not one thing God will at some point do, however one thing He has already completed…When Christ died, my outdated way of life died with Him. Previous tense…“has been”…my outdated self is a “has been”…thank God it’s so!

It’s not I who dwell— The outdated way of life is over…not improved upon, patched-up, painted over, or made higher…all issues have turn into new…there may be nothing about my outdated (egocentric) self that’s price bringing into my new life in Christ.

However Christ lives in me— Christ…not an “supreme” I attempt to dwell as much as, however an individual who’s alive IN me. He participates IN my life as Lord, and I take part in His life as His servant; He participates IN my life because the vine, and I take part in His life because the department; He participates IN my life because the Gentle, I take part in His life because the one who displays His radiance; He participates IN my life because the Shepherd, and I take part in His life by putting my belief in His main and wholly following Him.

So I dwell on this earthly physique by trusting within the Son of God, who liked me and gave Himself for me— I’ve by no means been so totally alive, free, recent …new wine, new joys, new function. My belief is in Him, not my sources; my confidence is in Him, not my talents; my victory is in Him, not my accomplishments. I can belief the one who loves me…who gave Himself for me…the one who provides and provides, again and again.

Buried with Christ and raised with Him, too,
What’s there left for me to do?
Merely to stop from struggling and strife,
Merely to stroll in newness of life.
