‘I pray for the steerage and assist of Almighty God’

Charles III was formally proclaimed King on the Accession Council.

Charles III was at the moment proclaimed King within the presence of the Royal Household, Prime Minister, former prime ministers, politicians, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and different dignitaries.

The proclamation ceremony was held at St James’s Palace in London on Saturday following the dying of his mom, Queen Elizabeth II.

Making his declaration on the Accession Council, Charles III promised to observe the “inspiring instance” of his mom and ended with a prayer for the “steerage and assist of Almighty God”.

He stated: “My lords, women and gents, it’s my most sorrowful obligation to announce to you the dying of my beloved mom the Queen. I understand how deeply you, all the nation, and I believe I’ll say the entire world, sympathise with me within the irreparable loss we have all suffered.

“It’s the best comfort to me to know the sympathy expressed by so many to my sister and brothers. And that such overwhelming affection and help needs to be prolonged to our complete household in our loss.”

He continued: “In taking on these tasks, I shall try to observe the inspiring instance I’ve been set in upholding constitutional authorities and to hunt the peace, concord and prosperity of the peoples of those islands, and of the Commonwealth realms and territories all through the world.

“On this function, I do know that I shall be upheld by the love and loyalty of the peoples whose Sovereign I’ve been known as upon to be, and that within the discharge of those duties I shall be guided by the counsel of their elected parliaments.

“In all this, I’m profoundly inspired by the fixed help of my beloved spouse. I take this chance to substantiate my willingness and intention to proceed the custom of surrendering the hereditary revenues, together with the Crown Property, to my Authorities for the advantage of all, in return for the Sovereign Grant, which helps my official duties as Head of State and Head of Nation.

“And in finishing up the heavy job that has been laid upon me, and to which I now dedicate what stays to me of my life, I pray for the steerage and assist of Almighty God.”

In the course of the ceremony, King Charles – as “Defender of the Religion” took an oath over the safety of the Church of Scotland, which preserves its independence.

Underneath the phrases of the oath, the King “by the Grace of God” does “faithfully promise and swear that I shall inviolably keep and protect the Settlement of the true Protestant Faith as established by the Legal guidelines made in Scotland in prosecution of the Declare of Proper and notably by an Act intituled ‘An Act for securing the Protestant Faith and Presbyterian Church Authorities’ and by the Acts handed within the Parliament of each Kingdoms for Union of the 2 Kingdoms, along with the Authorities, Worship, Self-discipline, Rights and Privileges of the Church of Scotland. So assist me God.”

After the ceremony, the Garter King of Arms proclaimed “God Save The King” and the Nationwide Anthem was performed.
