Starvation Pains – A Devotional by Julie Cosgrove

Like our our bodies, our souls want common nourishment to perform.

“Blessed are those that starvation and thirst for righteousness, for they are going to be crammed.”  Matthew 5:6

I used to be within the zone…typing away with out dropping my practice of thought, modifying as I went, the plot shifting alongside.

After some time, a slight wooziness washed over me. My abdomen growled. I sighed, pushed again my chair, and snatched a protein bar. Fast, simple to eat, no cooking or mess to scrub. I chomped as I typed. That staved off the starvation for some time, however the sensation returned inside just a few hours.

Isn’t this typically true of our religious lives? We’re in such a rush, our focus targeted on the “doing” mode. We overlook that, like our our bodies, our souls want common nourishment to perform. A deep starvation for God niggles us. At first, we ignore it, nevertheless it doesn’t go away.

However what to feed it? We flip by means of just a few highlighted verses in our Bibles, scan our bookshelves stuffed with devotionals and inspirational guides, even stare on the Biblical saying plaques on our partitions. Nonetheless, the deep aching isn’t fairly glad. We want actual God-time. And Sunday is days away.

To totally digest what we learn, see, and listen to, we have to take it to the Father and let his Spirit feed our religion. Really take up his fact the best way our abdomen takes in vitamins. That requires undisturbed prayer time.

Spend high quality time with God immediately. Don’t snack as you retain on “doing.” As an alternative, sit down, loosen up, and devour the full-plated goodness God needs to offer. That’s the complete meal deal. Discuss soul meals!

Lord, I starvation in your presence in my life. Let me not ignore the necessity to spend day by day time with you. Fill me to the brim together with your goodness, knowledge, and mercy. Let it maintain me as I’m going by means of my day. Amen.

Mirror on the way you wish to deepen your stroll with God, and particularly your time in his Phrase.
