Christian MP receives knighthood

Christian MP Stephen Timms has acquired a knighthood within the Queen’s Birthday Honours Record.

The honour was given in recognition of his political and public service. 

Timms has been Labour MP for East Ham since 1994 and served within the governments of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. 

He was Shadow Minister for Employment from 2010 to 2015, and at present chairs the Work and Pensions Choose Committee. 

Timms mentioned he was “more than happy” to have acquired a knighthood. 

“I am undecided I am extra deserving than considered one of my colleagues, however I am happy and my 93-year-old mom is happy about it as properly,” he mentioned. 

“It has been an enormous privilege to serve East Ham because the MP for 28 years, with 10 years as an area councillor earlier than that. We have seen loads of modifications on this space.

“I take specific satisfaction from the dramatic enhancements in class achievement regionally, made attainable by the federal government reforms and progress that is been since then.”

He added, “The Work and Pensions Choose Committee, which I chair, has received completely important work to do as we undergo the present cost-of-living disaster. So there’s a fantastic deal extra to be carried out within the years forward.”

One other Christian to be honoured was Prudence Dailey, former Chairman of the Prayer Ebook Society (PBS).

Dailey, who chaired PBS from 2006 to 2020, acquired an MBE for companies to the Ebook of Frequent Prayer.

Bradley Smith, the present Chairman of the Prayer Ebook Society, mentioned, ‘Prudence Dailey has given a few years of tireless and devoted service to the Prayer Ebook Society and the broader Church of England, not least by the Common Synod. As Chairman, she steered the PBS with outstanding power and willpower.

“I’m delighted that her distinguished service has been recognised on this method. The Prayer Ebook Society as an entire owes Prudence a fantastic debt of gratitude, and I’m positive that members will be part of me in congratulating her on this well-deserved honour.”
