US lawmakers approve $1tn in infrastructure spending

Billed as a “once-in-a-generation” spending measure, the infrastructure laws proposes $550bn in new federal expenditure, over the following eight years, to improve highways, roads and bridges, and to modernise metropolis transit programs and passenger rail networks.
