| The view from my window this week
I am away this week at Japanese Level Retreat Home in Gloucester, MA. I maintain you all in my coronary heart in prayer this week so in a method, you are right here with me on retreat. To share my expertise with you, I will submit occasional notes just like the one beneath. Please, come pray with me!
My retreat is predicated on the amazingly daring premise that the the all highly effective Creator of the universe has any curiosity in or cares to take discover of – my existence. That I’ve come right here to pray reveals yet one more unbelievable presumption: the One who’s all-knowing and infinitely clever truly listens and pays consideration to what I need to say. And – brace your self – this similar everlasting God by no means ceases to reply to my typically clumsy, egocentric and intermittent ramblings.
I feel we do not typically sufficient contemplate what it means for all of us to hope and to imagine that God faithfully listens to, hears and solutions our prayer – even when we do not at all times readily or simply perceive what that divine response could also be – even when that response is nothing extra and nothing lower than the silent, abiding, gracious presence of the One to whom we pray.
However that is, certainly, what we imagine. It is why I am in Gloucester this week. It is why you pray. It is why we collect right here, day after day, within the digital chapel of this weblog.
We imagine that our God is aware of and calls us every by title. We imagine that Jesus walks by our facet as certainly as he walked together with his pals in Jerusalem some 2,000 years in the past. We imagine that the Spirit of God dwells inside us, continuously urging us to open our minds and hearts: to the One who is aware of our each sorrow and pleasure; the One who is aware of our each concern, doubt and fear: the One who is aware of our each plea earlier than it rises in our soul or leaves our lips in phrases of prayer.
And we do what we imagine. Once more: that is why I’ve come to Gloucester this week. This is the reason you pray. This is the reason we collect day after day on this digital chapel. This is the reason the Spirit is looking, urging, prodding, nudging every of us – at this time – to search out some quiet time, in a quiet place, to open up our minds and hearts to God, the almighty, who’s ready to listen to from us, who’s ready to talk to us, who’s ready to be with us in prayer.
Have you ever prayed at this time?
God is ready to listen to from you…
