A Harmony Pastor Feedback: Pause for Prayer: SUNDAY 1/10

                   Sculpture by Timothy P. Schmalz

Final Sunday we celebrated the magi visiting the Christ Little one and this week his baptism, some 30 years later!  The gospels inform us little or no of the intervening a long time.  In our prayer in the present day, let’s marvel at what the lifetime of the Holy Household might have been…

Mary and Joseph,

what pleasure you should have taken in your little one

when, lastly, you had been in a position to cool down:

    first there was the journey to be enrolled in Bethlehem;

    then the bizarre guests

        from the heavens, from the fields, and from the East;

then fleeing to Egypt to your kid’s security

and at last, then, again residence to Nazareth…

How grateful you should have been

simply to be residence, along with your little one…

What pleasure you should have taken in displaying him off
to your loved ones and neighbors!
Did they assume him as good-looking a toddler as you probably did?

Did you sit, as mother and father do, merely watching him?
Watching him sleep, watching his each transfer?

Did you look into his eyes to see if he knew you?

And what did you see in his eyes?

Do you bear in mind his first phrase?
God’s Phrase made flesh, simply starting to talk?

Do you bear in mind seeing him smile

    for the primary time?

And his first step:
did you marvel the place his path would take him?

What did you marvel as you watched him develop up,

grow to be a young person, a younger man,

a preacher? a trainer crammed with knowledge?

Did you dream or think about
all that will come to go,

        what his future could be,

how your Little one, born in Bethlehem

would grow to be the way forward for us all?

Because the Christmas season closes, Lord,

carry us residence to be with you,

to carry you in our hearts,

    to nurse upon your knowledge,

to pay attention to your phrases of affection

and belief you communicate them now to us…

Amen.

Mary, do you know that your child boy
Would sooner or later stroll on water?
Mary, do you know that your child boy
Would save our little children?
Do you know that your child boy
Has come to make you new?
This little one that you just delivered, will quickly ship you

Mary, do you know that your child boy
Will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, do you know that your child boy
Will calm the storm along with his hand?

Do you know that your child boy
Has walked the place angels trod?
Once you kiss your little child
You kiss the face of God

Mary, do you know?
Mary, do you know?
Mary, do you know? Do you know?
Mary, do you know? Mary, do you know?
Mary, do you know? Mary, do you know?
Mary, do you know? Mary, do you know?

The blind will see, the deaf will hear
The useless will stay once more
The lame will leap, the dumb will communicate
The praises of the Lamb

Mary, do you know that your child boy
Is Lord of all creation?

Mary, do you know that your child boy
Would sooner or later rule the nations?
Do you know that your child boy
Is heaven’s excellent Lamb?
That sleeping little one you are holding is the good, I Am

Mary, do you know? (Mary, do you know?)
Mary, do you know? (Mary, do you know?)
Mary, do you know? Oh
