A Harmony Pastor Feedback: Pause for Prayer: SATURDAY 5/7

Photograph by M. Rutledge

Might is a month of particular devotion to Mary, the Mom of Jesus. On the Saturdays of Might, Pause for Prayer will deal with a specific Marian prayer and a musical setting for it.  So, at present I share with you Franz Biebl‘s  beautiful Ave Maria (composed within the context of the Angelus), flawlessly carried out right here by Chanticleer. (Scroll down for the lyrics in Latin and English.)   The music provides voice to the fantastic thing about the iris within the picture, a fragile blossom wearing conventional Marian hues of blue and white.  I hope you may take the time to pause,  hear and pray…

Angelus Domini, nuntiavit Mariae,
et
concepit de Spiritu Sancto.

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary
and he or she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus
et benedictus fructus ventris tui Jesus.
Hail Mary, stuffed with grace, the Lord is with you;
blessed are you amongst ladies
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Maria dixit, ecce ancilla Domini,
fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum.

Mary stated: behold the servant of the Lord,
let or not it’s completed to me in response to your phrase.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus
et benedictus fructus ventris tui Jesu.

Hail Mary, stuffed with grace, the Lord is with you;
blessed are you amongst ladies
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Et
verbum caro factum est,
et habitavit in nobis.

And the phrase turned flesh
and dwelled amongst us.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus
et benedictus fructus ventris tui Jesu.
Sancta Maria, mater Dei,
ora professional nobis peccatoribus
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
Hail Mary, stuffed with grace, the Lord is with you;
blessed are you amongst ladies
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mom of God,
pray for us, sinners,
now and on the hour of our demise.

Amen.
