A Harmony Pastor Feedback: NIGHT PRAYER: Wednesday 12/14

Creation: a season supposed to arrange the Lord’s means into our hearts and
minds, into our lives. Whereas we’re spend billions of {dollars} at this
time of 12 months, the center of Christmas is asking us to the simplicity and poverty of gospel life: to simplify our lives and to establish with and serve those that have a lot lower than we do. Saint Oscar Romero wrote about this:
Nobody can rejoice a real Christmas
with out being actually poor…
The self-sufficient, the proud,
those that, as a result of they’ve all the pieces,
look down on others,
those that don’t have any want even of God
—for them there shall be no Christmas…
Solely the poor, the hungry,
those that want somebody to return on their behalf,
solely they’ll have that somebody…
That somebody is God.
Emmanuel.
God-with-us…
With out poverty of spirit
there may be no abundance of God….
– Oscar Romero
Romero speaks a tough phrase right here, troublesome for us to listen to and
perceive in our first world consolation. However his phrases are true to the
season’s spirit. Christmas is for these “who want somebody to return on
their behalf.” If we expect we’d like nobody or if we do not imagine the
“somebody” we’d like most is, certainly, God – then we’ll do not know of
what Christmas is all about… Creation is a time for ready for the One
who comes on our behalf…
Lord,
assist me know the way a lot I want you…
And if I believe I do not want you,
that for days, months, even years at a time
I can get by alone, with out you,
then assist me see my folly
and lead me dwelling to you…
I want you to be there for me, Lord,
I want you to come on my behalf,
to be my power, my information, my advocate,
my assist, my therapeutic, my hope,
my Savior…
Train me to starvation
for time with you in prayer…
Train me to thirst
on your reality, your knowledge and your counsel…
Train me to lengthy
for the peace that solely you may give,
the peace I a lot need and wish…
Train me to be poor:
assist me know that your love’s the best treasure
I’d ever discover and have…
You hear the cry of the poor, Lord:
hear the cry of my poor coronary heart
and assist me hear the cry of these in want…
Shield me, Lord, whereas I am awake
and watch over me whereas I sleep
that awake, I’d maintain watch with you
and asleep, relaxation in your peace…
Amen.
Tonight’s music could also be troublesome simply as Romero’s
phrases are troublesome – however that is as a result of Nikki Mathis
additionally understands what the Lord means when he says,
“Blessed are the poor in spirit
for the dominion of heaven is theirs…” (Matthew 5)
