Lord,
I am grateful to you for therefore many causes:
all of the blessings and presents come my method
out of your coronary heart and hand to mine…
However I do know I generally act entitled,
taking your presents as a right…
I do not at all times thanks for all you provide
and there are occasions when my phrases and deeds
betray your generosity:
your fixed presence,
your sturdy, supporting arm,
the assistance of your grace and the peace I discover
via my hope and religion in you…
Wanting again on at the present time, then,
I thanks for all of your blessings, Lord:
the presents I observed,
those I took as a right
and particularly those I missed
for being too busy and distracted…
And I am grateful for the way you proceed to bless me
and keep by my facet as my pal and information
– even when issues I say and do
show me unworthy of you and your love…
How nice is your love, O Lord!
How mysterious your method with us sinners!
How grateful am I in your mercy
– once I’ve been ungrateful to you…
Shield me, Lord, whereas I lie awake
and watch over me as I sleep
that awake, I would hold watch with you
and asleep, relaxation in your peace…
