A Harmony Pastor Feedback: NIGHT PRAYER: Friday 8/5

I first posted this prayer 7 years in the past however spent a while as we speak buffing and sharpening it and including some music to suit it for Evening Prayer…

One evening this summer season, Lord,
let me linger on the seashore at nightfall
to moonbathe whereas the sky’s nonetheless blue,
earlier than the celebs come out to play…

One evening this summer season, Lord,
let me hear the tide wash gentle upon the shore
when the youngsters have gone dwelling,
their pails and shovels, ready
for one more summer season’s day…

One evening this summer season, Lord,

let my toes benefit from the moist cool kiss

of sand beneath my toes,

my steps a path of twilight hopes,

a path of summer season’s grace…

One evening this summer season, Lord,

let a heat breeze gently brush my face,

reminding me how close to you’re,

how tender falls your contact

upon my coronary heart, upon my soul…

One evening this summer season, Lord,
let the moonlight dance on frothy surf,

in lacy tracings on the shore:
your magnificence teasing, drawing me

to step somewhat nearer…

One evening this summer season, Lord,
let me linger on the seashore at nightfall
to moonbathe whereas the sky’s nonetheless blue,
earlier than the celebs come out to play…

Defend me, Lord, whereas I am awake,

watch over me whereas I sleep,

that awake, I am going to maintain watch with you

and asleep, relaxation in your peace…

Amen.

Our music this night is Debussy’s melancholic piano piece, Clair de Lune.  Even for those who will not get to the seashore this summer season (or for those who stay a whole bunch of miles from the water’s edge) I hope tonight’s prayer and music may carry your coronary heart to the shoreline of the ocean depths of God’s love for you…
