A Harmony Pastor Feedback: Monday Morning Providing: 9/5

Picture: George Mendoza

Good morning, good God!

This Labor Day, Lord,

I am grateful for the world you created

and that I, too,  am the work of your arms:

    you shaped my inmost being,

you knit me in my mom’s womb...*

And also you took the time,

earlier than time was,

to think about me, my being;

to contemplate for even a second,

my existence:

    you conceived of me

earlier than I used to be conceived…

After which from the love of two,

you long-established me
and created me

in your individual picture – and in theirs;

you gave me a soul you’d given no different,

and breathed in the breath

of your individual life…

How nice are your many works, O Lord,
and the way grateful am I
that this lifetime of mine
is actually the work of your arms…

Who am I that it’s best to discover me,

look after me and love me?

But you have topped me with glory and honor:

    your love, my crown,

    your mercy, my glory,

    your grace, my best honor…

You created me, Lord, my God

and now I,

the work of your arms,

give you

the work of my arms,

    although every part I’ve

was first your present to me…

On Labor Day, Lord, I provide my present,

humbled that you’d settle for it

and humbled that my arms share in your work

as your arms share in mine…

I pray for individuals who haven’t any work
and people whose work is an excessive amount of to bear:
elevate up the unemployed, O Lord

and lighten the load of the weary…

Good God of Monday mornings
and each labored day,
I rejoice within the work you have begun in me,
might you deliver it to achievement…

Amen.
