A Cheerful Giver – by Brigitte Straub

“For God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

I’ll always remember the day when God requested me to present away one thing that meant an incredible deal to me. In our early years of marriage, my husband purchased me a gorgeous gold pendant cross necklace. He was within the army on the time, and thru seven deployments over a 10-year interval, I by no means as soon as took it off. It was a relentless reminder of God’s faithfulness to me in tough occasions.

But at some point, whereas going for a stroll, I sensed God was asking me to present this necklace to another person. I didn’t hesitate; I can keep in mind strolling over to him, taking it off, and sharing God’s love for him. As he proceeded to cry, I put it round his neck and gave him a hug.

When our hearts and palms are open to giving, they’re additionally open to receiving. When God asks us to present, no matter which will appear to be, He usually has one thing to present again to us in return that’s simply as significant and particular.

A cheerful giver reveals a lifetime of somebody who has put full belief in God, believing He is an efficient Father who likes to bless His kids and enjoys watching His kids bless each other in return. That is the life God has referred to as us to.

Some time later whereas opening up Christmas presents, my five-year-old son handed me somewhat field. Inside it lay a gorgeous cross necklace fabricated from bone that he had purchased together with his small quantity of chore cash. He didn’t know that I had given away my particular necklace, however God knew, and used my little boy to bless me greater than I may have even imagined.

You’re a good Father: form, caring, gracious, loving, and desperate to bless Your kids. Might I at all times be prepared to present the place You ask me to, and should my coronary heart at all times be joyous in doing so. Use me to like others the way in which You’re keen on them. Amen.
