Good morning, good God!
This morning, Lord, I give you my day
and all it is many components and aspects…
I give you the 24 hours forward of me:
might I exploit my time productively,
doing what you ask of me,
setting apart time for play and relaxation and prayer,
time to thanks for all this present day might maintain…
I give you my energy immediately:
might my coronary heart and fingers accomplish
no matter you might ask of me;
might I discover the muscle I want
to maneuver what have to be moved,
to carry what have to be held,
to place down what have to be stopped
and elevate up what have to be honored,
all of the whereas taking care
to be mild, variety and truthful
with all whose paths cross mine…
And I give you my ideas, Lord:
might your Spirit be my counsel,
your grace my instinct,
your phrase my supply of reality,
your knowledge my certain information…
Lastly, I give you my coronary heart, Lord
with all its tender, damaged items,
its chambers full of sorrow, pleasure,
recollections and want;
I give you an earnest coronary heart
that desires, tries, longs to like
– and simply as usually fails
and waits upon your mercy
for pardon and for peace…
I supply all I’m, Lord, all I’ve
and all I hope to be, to say and do that day:
hear me and obtain my prayer,
my Monday morning providing;
I reward you, Lord, my God,
from whom each blessing flows…
