Journalists Maria Ressa, of the Philippines, and Dmitry Muratov, of Russia, have received this yr’s Nobel Peace Prize “for his or her efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace”.
The announcement for the award, one of many world’s high accolades, was made on Friday by the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo, Norway.
Final yr’s prize went to the World Meals Programme for its efforts to fight starvation and meals insecurity across the globe.
