Good morning, good God!

It is the feast of Saint Francis
and the phrases of his prayer are on my thoughts
and in my coronary heart…

This morning, Lord, I come to you with Brother Francis
and give you my prayer, formed by his…

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace…

The place there’s hatred, let me sow love…

When politics tempt me to hate the opposite facet,
when my envy delights in office intrigue,
when my ideas stroll the paths of anger’s edge:
train me to like as you might have beloved me…

The place there’s harm, pardon…

When phrases minimize sharp as knives,
when idle gossip tears aside,
when careless deeds wound deeply:
train me to pardon and heal
as you might have healed and pardoned me…

The place there’s despair, hope…

Educate me, Lord,

to hope after I’m unsure of many issues,

to belief after I’m so prepared to surrender,

to imagine after I’m confused and misplaced unsure,

and share the religion and hope I’ve

with those that wrestle to imagine…

The place there’s darkness, gentle…

Educate me, Lord

to belief in your gentle via the darkish of night time,

to stroll by your gentle when shadows beckon,

to face agency in your gentle when clouds fill the skies

and to share your gentle with all who search it…

The place there’s disappointment, pleasure…

Lighten my coronary heart with the items of your Spirit,
contact my coronary heart with the peace of your presence,
elevate from my coronary heart the burdens I bear
and grant me the present, the grace of your pleasure…

O Divine Grasp…

Assist me discover my peace in making peace
and know your love in loving these I do know:

might the wants of others form and mildew my coronary heart.

Educate me to like as I’m beloved,

    to forgive as I’m pardoned,

and to die to self that I would stay

and rise to share your peace…

Saint Francis: pray for us!

Amen.
